About Glass Continuum

Nashville's glass recycling nonprofit. We close the loop locally, one bottle at a time.

We Crush Glass.
Not Ecosystems.

Glass is infinitely recyclable. It doesn't degrade, doesn't wear out, and never stops being useful. So why does Nashville's "recycled" glass get hauled 250 miles to Atlanta, or quietly end up in a landfill? Glass Continuum was built to answer that question with something better than a shrug.

We intercept waste glass from Nashville's hospitality and construction sectors, process it locally, and turn it into construction sand, landscaping cullet, and custom-colored aggregates for artists and builders. No 250-mile haul. No landfill. Just material doing what it was always meant to do.

Why Glass? Why Nashville? Why Now?

Nashville is growing fast. New construction, a booming hospitality scene, more glass in the waste stream than ever. And the infrastructure to handle it? It wasn't built for this. Most municipal programs treat glass like a problem to minimize, not a resource to reclaim.

Founder Leslie Near looked at that gap and saw something worth building. Not another awareness campaign. An actual operation: collect, process, supply. Close the loop right here, for the businesses and builders and artists who need what glass becomes.

The machinery is coming. The mission is already in motion. And some materials are just worth the extra effort.

Planet

Circular Before It Had a Name

Glass turns back into sand. That's not a concept. That's chemistry. We skip the landfill, skip the 250-mile haul, and supply sustainable materials directly to Nashville.

People

Good Work for Everyone

We build inclusive employment pathways for LGBTQIA+ individuals, racial minorities, immigrants, and people with ADA needs. A thriving local operation should create opportunity broadly, not narrowly.

Product

Material That Does More

Our processed glass becomes construction sand, landscaping cullet, and custom-colored aggregates for artists, landscapers, and manufacturers. Real materials, real uses, real local supply.

Our Foundation

Glass Continuum is a Nashville-based nonprofit founded by Leslie Near. The organization rests on two commitments that reinforce each other: divert glass from the waste stream, and create jobs for people who face systemic barriers to employment.

We're not waiting for a federal program or a municipal mandate. We're building the infrastructure ourselves, locally, with the businesses and community members who understand that some problems are worth solving now.

Funding is being secured for commercial grinding equipment. The operation is taking shape. If you have glass to divert, materials you need, or want to be part of what comes next, reach out.
